Sorry I've been away for such a very long time! I never stopped loving or growing Daturas I just sort of fell out of the habit of coming to iBrugs.  indecision

A whole bunch of these Daturas came up near where I work in central Connecticut.  The area where they appeared was recently cleared of some unwanted brush and bushes and "fresh soil" put down - soil that was so contaminated by weed seeds that it could be considered a criminal act - except for these great Daturas!

Because of the time of day the flowers weren't open, but I can tell you they were very D. discolor-like. But the leaves, stem and seed pods are all wrong for discolor.  When I spotted the very young plants I thought they would be D. stramonium, and leaves and the seed pod, even though still immature, strongly resemble that species. But I've never seen stramonium with stems strongly colored dark purple or with a distinctly purple throat.  Does anyone know what they are?

(I want to show photos - I'm going to figure out how to do that now...)

(Slightly OT remark here, but this forum software is some of the worst I've ever seen!  Having big problems with Firefox, Chrome and IE, all the latest versions.)

I hope the photos appear below. The "preview" icon doesn't actually seem to preview anything!

I'm going out to the garden while I still have some light.  If some kind person would like to enlighten me about how to include photos I'll take care of it later.  angry

I guess it appears to be Datura tatula.  It looks exactly like the plant in the tatula photo album.  Let's try one more time to show the photos that I took...
